FOUNDER
ABOUT JOSHUA GOMEZ

I built CCBall because I wanted a better way to train alone.

CCBall started while I was at university, when I was looking for a practical way to practise striking at home because a heavy bag was not suitable. I kept training with early versions for several years, changing the setup as my own training developed.

During that time, I became increasingly interested in how fighters actually acquire skill, and began reading more deeply into motor learning, practice, feedback, attention, automaticity and performance.

After a period of time in which I focused seriously on martial arts, I decided to turn something I had originally built for myself into a product for other people.

For the industry

How CCBall fits into training and the wider striking-equipment market.

01 For Coaches

A note on what CCBall is designed to train.

Why I Built CCBall

I developed CCBall because I wanted something I could train with at home that was more interactive than a static target and could continue to challenge me as I improved. I have now trained with different prototypes for more than three years.

What I Want It to Become

My ambition is to establish CCBall as a recognised piece of boxing and striking equipment for the home: something a beginner can start with, but that still offers meaningful training possibilities as their ability develops.

How It Can Be Used

The moving, returning target can be used to work on accuracy, range, balance, timing, combinations, positioning, defensive movement and response. As the user improves, practice can become increasingly open-ended, with the striker reading the return, moving around it and allowing the exchange to develop rather than following a fixed sequence.

CCBall provides the interaction. The fighter still has to perceive, decide and move.

THE CCBALL JOURNEY

CCBALL IS LEAVING THE ROOM.

For years, CCBall mainly existed inside my own training.

Now I’m taking it to fighters, coaches, gyms and retailers and asking them to judge it for themselves.

Some people see the potential immediately. Some need more explanation. Some do not see the value at all.

This is the record of CCBall meeting the world.

WHAT CCBALL IS MEETING

NOT EVERY REACTION IS THE SAME.

The useful part is not collecting praise. It is seeing where the idea clicks, where it does not, and what changes when CCBall is explained properly.

THE CHRONICLE

THE PEOPLE, PLACES AND MOMENTS.

A growing record of real encounters with CCBall. Each entry carries its own date, place and context so the page itself never goes stale.

FROM ONE ROOM OUTWARDS

THE ENVIRONMENT IS GETTING BIGGER.

CCBall began as something I built to solve my own training problem. Every new gym, fighter, coach, buyer and city adds another environment in which the idea has to make sense.

EARNING ITS PLACE

ACCEPTANCE HAS TO BE EARNED.

CCBall does not become established because I say it should.

It has to survive contact with the people who train, coach, sell and use striking equipment. Scepticism, rejection and misunderstanding are part of that process. So are the moments when someone sees the distinction, changes their mind or decides to stay involved.

THE AMBITION

WE’RE COMING FOR THE HEAVY BAG.

Not to replace every heavy bag. The goal is to make CCBall a staple piece of boxing and striking equipment. Something people recognise, understand and genuinely want to train with.

It’s more than just CCBall.
